28 April 1942 - 59 Squadron, RAF North Coates - Lockheed Hudson V – AM639 – P/O D V Thesinger RAFVR – Duty Training practise bombing.

Location – In sea off Spurn Point.

59 Squadron Lockheed Hudson V AM639 aircraft crashed during low level practise bombing attack on the wreck of a ship off Spurn Point during high winds. The bodies of 2 of the crew were recovered by HMT Sheraton

P/O Dermont Vigors Thesiger RAFVR - Pilot – 28 - 59 Sqn - Son of Capt. the Hon. Wilfred Thesiger, D.S.O., and of Kathleen Thesiger, of Chelsea, London. Barrister of the Middle Temple – Runnymede Memorial.

Sgt John Richard Hoskins RAAF – Navigator – 22 – 59 Sqn - Son of Harold Vincent and Gladys Muriel Hoskins, of Wollstonecraft, New South Wales, Australia - North Cotes St Nicholas Churchyard, Lincolnshire.

Sgt Eric Stanley Normore RAFVR - 23 - 59 Sqn - Son of William and Fanny Normore, of Deer Lake, Newfoundland – Runnymede Memorial

Sgt Henry Francis Neary RAFVR - Wireless Operator/ Air Gunner – 19 – 59 Sqn - Son of Edward and Margaret Neary, of St. John's, Newfoundland - North Cotes St Nicholas Churchyard, Lincolnshire.
