7/8th August 1944 – 103 Squadron - RAF Elsham Wolds – Avro Lancaster I – LM292 – F/O George C Brown RCAF – Duty Op Fontenay-le-Marmion.
Location – Crashed on return near Fenton, Lincolnshire.
This crew were lost on their 3rd operation on the 7/8-Aug-44 to Fontenay-le-Marmion. Crashed on return. Damaged by flak and crashed near Fenton, Lincolnshire on return to base following engine fire. 5 crew members were able to bale out when the aircraft got into serious difficulties. Sgt Corless, the Flight Engineer, stayed with his pilot to help him control the machine during its final moments as the other crew members baled out
