103 Squadron Heavy Conversion Flight.
103 Squadron Heavy Conversion Flight ( HCF ) operated from RAF Elsham Wolds flying Handley Page Halifaxes in the summer of 1942 under the command of W/C David Holford. It was found impracticable to operate a training unit from an operational bomber airfield and in the autumn 103 HCF departed for RAF Lindholme being redesignated 1656 Heavy Conversion Unit. A similar Flight at 460 Squadron RAF Holme on Spalding Moor was also part of this reorganisation.
During their short time at RAF Elsham Wolds the 103 Squadron Heavy Conversion Flight suffered 3 serious accidents with no survivors. The Bagley and Fulbrook aircraft crashed on or in close vicinity of the airfield and the Stockford aircraft came down near Louth.
