27 January 1943 - 57 Squadron, RAF Scampton - Avro Lancaster I - W4267 - Sgt William H Wood RAFVR - Training
Location - Cabourne High Woods near Caen Hill 2 miles north east of Caistor.
The cause of this tragic incident is unknown. Sgt Long survived and it is reported that he baled out. This was possibly a new crew to 57 Squadron but I have no other information regarding this.
Five of the crew were claimed by relatives and buried in their hometowns. Sgt Chapman rests at Brigg Cemetery.

F/O Thomas H Anthony RAFVR – Wireless Operator / Air Gunner - 28 – 57 Sqn - Son of Richard Albert and Elizabeth Jane Anthony, of Clyro; husband of Dorothy Freda Anthony, of Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset - Clyro St Michael Churchyard, Somerset.
Sgt S C Bradley RAFVR – Air Gunner - 26 – 57 Sqn - Son of Thomas Snowdon Bradley and Beatrice Annie Bradley, of Keighley - Haworth Cemetery, West Yorkshire.
